Reusable Sanitary Pads Project
We have embarked on a project that centers around two essential aspects: the production of reusable menstrual pads and the eco-friendly manufacturing of detergents and soap. Our primary goal is to address the critical issue of menstrual hygiene while fostering empowerment, especially among the local community.
Reusable Pads for Dignity and Sustainability
Access to affordable and sustainable menstrual products is a challenge in many underserved communities, often resulting in health risks and missed opportunities for women and girls. Born to be Awesome Initiative is breaking these barriers by introducing reusable menstrual pads to the community.
Reusable pads are cloth pads that serve as an alternative to disposable menstrual pads. Like disposable pads, you place them into your underwear and go about your day. The difference is that when reusable pads fill up, you rinse them off, wash them, and reuse them, instead of throwing them away. Many choose reusable pads as a personal preference. They may be more comfortable than disposable pads. Others opt for reusable pads to lower their carbon footprint. They are made of washable and reusable materials, such as cotton, synthetic fabrics, or charcoal-based material. They can be more eco-friendly, cost-effective, and comfortable than disposable pads. These pads can be easily washed and reused multiple times, reducing the need for constant disposal. Additionally, the production of reusable pads has a lower carbon footprint compared to the manufacturing of disposable pads. The reusable pads are not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly, reducing the ecological footprint while ensuring comfort and hygiene. By providing these reusable pads to local women and girls, we empower them to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence
Eco-Friendly Home Made Detergents
Our initiative extends its focus beyond menstrual hygiene to encompass the production of environmentally-friendly detergents and soaps, exemplifying our steadfast commitment to sustainable practices.
These locally crafted cleaning products not only encourage cleanliness but also generate economic opportunities within the community. Moreover, these detergents are specially designed to facilitate the washing and maintenance of the washable pads, creating a holistic approach that empowers women and girls, promoting both hygiene and economic independence.
This milestone signifies the beginning of a transformative journey, where Born to be Awesome Initiative, supported by East Africa Breweries Ltd and Senator, is working tirelessly to make menstrual hygiene accessible, promote sustainability, and empower communities
