The Born to Be Awesome Initiative recently partnered with the Big Family Organization to advance menstrual hygiene and health education in the Mumias East region of Western Kenya. This collaboration aimed to empower young girls with knowledge, confidence, and essential sanitary products to support their well-being and uninterrupted education.
Three primary schools benefited from this impactful outreach program, which featured interactive sessions on menstrual hygiene, body awareness, and general health education. The initiative sought to dispel myths surrounding menstruation, encourage open discussions, and help girls understand that periods are a natural and healthy part of growing up.
By the end of the day, over 500 girls received multiple packets of sanitary pads, ensuring they no longer have to miss school due to a lack of menstrual supplies. The event also fostered a sense of community and self-worth among the participants, inspiring them to embrace their womanhood with confidence and pride.
Born to Be Awesome Initiative and Big Family Organization reaffirm their shared commitment to promoting dignity, equality, and empowerment for all children, particularly girls in underserved communities.
A heartfelt appreciation goes to the Big Family Organization for partnering with Born to Be Awesome to create lasting change in Mumias East. Together, we continue to build a future where every girl can grow up healthy, confident, and unstoppable.
